Go for it!
"Always read my Word. Always study my Word. Always think about my Word. Think about it all day. Think about it all night. Make yourself obey it. That is the way to be a winner. Then things will go well for you. I am telling you what to do. I am giving you a command. Be strong! Go for it! Be brave! Do not be scared! Do not think that your job is too hard. Remember that I will always be with you. I will be with you in every place. I am the Lord. I am stronger than anything! I am the ruler of everything! I am God!” (Joshua 1:8-9)

Jesus is the ruler of my new life
"I used to think I had to obey all the rules. I used to think that was the way to be right with God. But I could never obey all the rules. I could never be right with God that way. God was not happy with me. My old self tried to obey the rules. My old self said that was the way to be right with God. I tried very hard. But I did not make God happy. God showed me that way does not work. So I asked Jesus to forgive my sins. I asked Jesus to make me right with God. My old self died. It is not the ruler of my life anymore. Jesus gave me a new life. Jesus is the ruler of my new life" (Galatians 2:19, The B-I-B-L-E).

Jesus made the way for us to be right with God.
"I am the God-man. I did not come for you to do something for me. I came to do something for you. You have done bad things. God is ready to punish you. But I came to take your punishment. I came to take your place. I came to give my life. I came to make the way for you to be right with God" (Matthew 20:28, The B-I-B-L-E).

Progress report
For those of you who are following the progress on The B-I-B-L-E, I want to tell you that I am moving forward well. I now have about 83% of the New Testament either already published or in rough draft. My goal is to print the whole New Testament as a volume. Please pray for the Lord's guidance and blessing on this work. May the Lord receive glory and may many children grow to know God better and better through this work.

God's great plan for your life
"I am your God. I have a great plan for you. I will do good things for you. I will not hurt you. My plan is the best. Good things will happen to you. You can count on that. You can trust in me. You can have hope. Then you will pray to me. And I will listen. Do you really want to know me? Do you really want to be close to me? Are you trying hard to do what is right? Then you will find me. Then you will be close to me" (Jeremiah 29:11-13, The B-I-B-L-E).

God's free gift
"Sin is not the ruler of your life anymore. God made you free from sin. Now you have a new ruler of your life. Now you want to obey God. You want to do what is right. You want to make God happy. You want to live forever with God in heaven. If you sin, what will happen? You will be punished. But God wants to give you a way out. God wants to give you a gift. It is a free gift. Jesus died for our sins. He took our punishment. He wants to make you right with God. He wants to forgive your sins. He wants to give you eternal life. He wants you to live with him in heaven forever"

Easy to read
I love to hear reports of kids who are reading The B-I-B-L-E.
They are finding it easy to read, and they are understanding and reacting to God's Word. One girl told me that school has been very hard for her. She never liked to read. Her teacher told her she needed to read with her mom every day. It was always a chore. But her grandmother gave her The B-I-B-L-E. She is reading it with pleasure. Now she reminds her mom that it is time to read. Let others know about this important resource for children and early readers.

How to be right with God
"Everyone has done bad things. God will punish sin. But God made the way to be right with him. Jesus died on the cross for our sins. He is ready to forgive us. We need to trust in Jesus. We need to do what is right. Then God will take our sins away. Then we will not be in trouble anymore. God will not punish us. We will be right with God. He will say we are good" (Romans 8:1, The B-I-B-L-E).

A heart full of peace
"I am praying for you. God can help you think about good things. I pray you will keep on trusting in God. I pray you will keep on being happy. I pray your heart will be full of peace. I pray you will keep on thinking about the good things God will do. God gave you the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit will make you strong. The Holy Spirit will help you keep on thinking about God’s promises. I hope you will have too many happy ideas to keep them inside your heart. I hope your happy ideas will bubble over to others" (Romans 15:13, The B-I-B-L-E).

feedback
I love to hear reports of kids who are reading The B-I-B-L-E. One boy (9 years old) recently told me how he was really into reading Nehemiah, about placing guards all around, about getting the wall done, about dealing with bullies. Another boy (also 9 years old) had to read a book for school. He told his teacher that he was going to read The Bible by Jan Harthan. His teacher asked to see the book to be sure it was legitimate. She approved the choice. The boy is nearly done with Volume 3 (Proverbs and Romans) and is understanding it. I love to get such feedback.

Always think about the truth.
"Always try to know the truth. Do not think about lies. Think about the truth. Keep good ideas in your heart. Make good choices. Then you will be thinking right. Do not just do your own thing. Make yourself stay away from bad things. Make yourself do what is right. Then you will have self-control" (Proverbs 23:23, The B-I-B-L-E).

A happy heart is best
"Some people have a crabby heart. They always think about what is bad. They do not care about others. They are not good friends. They make trouble. They start fights. They make others crabby too. But other people have a happy heart. They are kind. They care about others. They think about the good things others do. They do not keep on thinking about the bad things others do. They forgive others" (Proverbs 10:12, The B-I-B-L-E).

Everyone needs to hear the Good News
"I like to do God’s work. I like to tell the Good News. Some people do not know about Jesus. They have never heard the Good News. Those are the places where I like to go. People in other places already know about Jesus. There are churches in some places. I do not go to those places. I want everyone to have a chance to know about Jesus. I want everyone to have a chance to hear the Good News"

Only one way to be right with God
"The way to be right with God is to trust in Jesus. We need to ask him to forgive us for doing bad things. We need to ask him to take away our sins. Then we will be right with God. That is the way for everyone to be saved. It is the same way for all people. Some people are important, and some are not. People have done different bad things. That does not matter. The way to be saved is the same for everyone" (Romans 3:22, The B-I-B-L-E).

Do what makes God happy
"Give your whole self to God. Love him with your whole heart. Every day think about making God happy. Say 'no' to bad things. Do what is right. Be kind to others. Remember that God loves you. Remember that Jesus died for your sins. Remember that he forgave you. Remember that you are part of his family. So I am asking you, please, please, please, to do what makes God happy. Am I asking you to do a big thing? No way! God did much bigger things for you!"

Proverbs and Romans are printed
I'm excited that The B-I-B-L-E Volume 3 has been printed and is now available on amazon.com. Those books hold wonderful truths that will help children make good choices and grow to know God better. I am currently working on the book of Hebrews. Now I am very anxious to get that book out. Without the book of Hebrews, people cannot really understand why Jesus died. God's Word is very important for all of us, and I am committed to give my effort to making it available to children. I pray the Lord will bless those efforts to accomplish his purposes. Please tell others about the new volume.

Teamwork is best
"Some people make a plan. But they do not ask others what they think. They do not ask others for ideas. So their plan will not work out. That is not the best way. The best way is to tell others your plan. Ask others what they think. Ask others for ideas. Be a team. Then the plan will work out" (Proverbs 15:22, The B-I-B-L-E).

Just letting you know that I have approved all of the galley proofs for The B-I-B-L-E Volume 3. It should be available in early August. I pray that God will bless his Word as it goes out. May it help children grow to know God better and keep their lives pure and pleasing to him.

Kind words give hope
"Everyone has problems. But some people worry about their problems. They think everything is bad. They think there is no way out of their problems. They are very sad. Their problems feel very heavy. But kind words will help people feel better. Kind words will help them think about good things. Kind words will give them hope" (Proverbs 12:25, The B-I-B-L-E).

"These proverbs are important words. They teach people how to think right. They teach people how to do good things. They teach people to say 'no' to bad things. They teach people to understand important things" (Proverbs 1:2, The B-I-B-L-E).
The B-I-B-L-E Volume 3 is now being printed. Check for this new book in late July on amazon.com.

Faith
"Our sin makes us be far away from God. But the Good News tells us how we can be right with God. It tells us how we can be close to God. I will tell you how you can be saved. You need to know God is true. You need to trust in God. That is called faith. God’s Word tells us how that works: 'We need to trust in God. We need to have faith. Then we can be right with God. Then God will give us a new life. He will be the ruler of our new life. We need to do what is right. We will have eternal life. We can live forever with God' "

Children reading God's Word!
I started this Bible4kids project so my grandchildren would be able to read God's Word as they were learning how to read. I was so excited this week to hear my oldest grandchild reading The B-I-B-L-E by herself and understanding it. She just finished kindergarten. I am more anxious than ever to get Proverbs and Romans printed in Volume 3. I have three more grandchildren coming up. They are now ages 6, 5, 4, and 3!

The Truth
"God helps people know who he is. Everyone can know about God. It is easy to see what God is like. But some people do not want to know the truth. They make up their own ideas about God. They make up their own ideas about God’s Word. But God will stop them. God will show that they are telling lies" (Proverbs 22:12, The B-I-B-L-E).
I'm thankful God gave us his Word so we can have his truth as the foundation of our life.

With the Lord
This morning I just got news that a close friend died. I know she is with the Lord now.
"I want to be close to Jesus. I can do good things. But that cannot save me. That cannot make me right with God. I can try to obey God’s rules. But that cannot save me. Only Jesus can save me. I need to trust in Jesus. I need to have faith. Then I can be right with God. Then I can be close to Jesus. Then I can keep on knowing him better and better. Jesus died on the cross. God made him come alive again. He is super strong. He will make me strong too. I will have problems. I will have hard times. Jesus had hard times too. I will be like him. I want to be close to him. Then I can live with him in heaven forever. Then I can have eternal life"
(Philippians 3:9-11, The B-I-B-L-E).

Trust in God
I teach Sunday School to second-graders. Yesterday our lesson was on trusting in God. There are many things around us that call for our trust and devotion, but God is the only trustworthy one. We must not depend on our own wisdom--that will surely lead us down the wrong path. If we trust in God and depend on the wisdom he will give, then he will guide our life.
"Sometimes you do not know what to do. You need God to help you think right. What does God want you to do? Just ask him. He will help you think right. He will not get upset. He does not get tired of hearing your prayers. He likes it when you pray to him. He is happy to answer your prayers"
(James 1:5, The B-I-B-L-E).

God will help you win
My passion is to help children learn about God's love for them and grow to know him better and better. We need to teach children to put God first in their life. We should always pray for the children around us. "God will help you do good things. He will help you win. Then we will be very happy. We will tell God 'thank you' for helping you. I hope God will answer all of your prayers" (Psalm 20:5, The B-I-B-L-E).

Be ready to help others
"Maybe you will see someone who is hungry. She needs food. Maybe you will see someone who is cold. He needs clothes. Maybe you will say, 'God will take care of you. I hope you will have good clothes. I hope you will have good food.' Why do you say that? That is no good. Words will not help those people. You need to give them food. You need to give them clothes. You need to be kind to them"
(James 2:15-16, The B-I-B-L-E).
There are a lot of hurting people all around us. May the Lord give us wisdom to touch their lives.

Why do people fight?
"Why do people fight? Why do people do stupid things? Armies get ready for war. Leaders do not obey God. They do not want other people to obey God. They do not want God to tell them what to do. They do not want to obey him. God is super strong. He laughs when people think they are strong. He laughs when people do their own thing"
(Psalm 2:1-4, The B-I-B-L-E).

We are always running...
"We work very hard. We are always running. Our life goes by very fast. We will soon be out of here. We will all die. If we get very rich, we cannot even use our money after we die. Then someone else will get our money. God, do you know what I am trusting in? I am trusting in you" (Psalm 39:6-7, The B-I-B-L-E).

"Help me understand what your Word means."
"Help me understand what your Word means. Then I will know wonderful things. The earth is not my home. I will be here for just a little time. I need your Word. It tells me how to do what is right. I think all the time about your Word. I want to know your Word. I want to obey it"

You can be part of God's family
"Always tell God 'thank you.' Just think! You are part of God’s family. He will always take care of you. You can live with him in heaven forever. Remember to stay close to God. Obey his Word. Do what is right. We used to be part of the Devil’s family. He likes bad things. He wants us to do bad things. Then we were far away from God. But God got us out of the Devil’s family. Jesus died for our sins. We are trusting in Jesus. Jesus took our sins away. Now we are part of God’s family" (Colossians 1:12-13, The B-I-B-L-E).

A motivated team
Nehemiah challenged the people to take on a big and important job. And they were all ready to go for it!
"But then I was ready to talk to them. I said, 'You know about Jerusalem. You know it is a mess. You know the walls are all broken down. You know the gates are burned. Come on! Let’s build the walls! Then the other people cannot say that we are no good!' I told them how God was helping me. I told them what I said to the king. I told them how kind the king was. They said right away, 'Yes! Let’s go for it! Let’s build the wall!' So they started to do that important work" (Nehemiah 2:17-18, The B-I-B-L-E).

God does amazing things
Our hearts should always be full of praise for God.
"Sing to God. Sing a new song for him. He does amazing things. He is super strong. He is awesome. He always does what is right. God does amazing things. Everyone can see the amazing things he does. Everyone can see that he is good"

You will always keep on being God
"God, you made the earth a very long time ago. You made the heavens too. All of that will go away. But you will not go away. You will always keep on being God. Our clothes get old. They are not good anymore. Then we get new clothes. They will get old too. You are not like that. You are always the same. You will never stop being God"

Be close to God
"Epaphras told us about you. We started praying for you right away. And we keep on praying for you. God has a good plan for your life. We are asking God to help you know his plan. We want you to be close to God. Then you will know what he wants you to do. We are asking God to help you think right. Then you will always do what is right. Then you will make God happy. God is our place of safety
"God, please listen to me. Please hear my prayers. Wherever I am, I will ask you for help. I feel like I cannot keep on going. Please show me a safe place. Take me to the big rock. That is a safe place. You always take care of me. You are the safe place where I can hide. You are like a strong fort. The bad people cannot get me there. I want to always be close to you. Then I will be safe. I will be right by you" (Psalm 61:1-4, The B-I-B-L-E).

Add a comment
I am currently doing a maternity leave substitute teaching job in second grade. I have asked friends around the world to send me a note giving greetings to my class. We will plot the senders' locations on a world map. It would be great if you would like to take part in that. Just add a comment to my blog, and I'll share it with my class. Be sure to tell where you live in the world. Thank you!

God gives lots of blessings
"God is like a light for us. He shows us what is right. He takes care of us. He is kind to us. He gives lots of blessings to people who do what is right. God, you are awesome. People who trust in you are very happy" (Psalm 84:11-12, The B-I-B-L-E).

God is like a strong fort where we can hide
"Take a look at good people. Look at people who tell the truth. Look at people who do good things. God has a good plan for them. He will take care of them. If they love peace, they will have a good life. But God will get rid of the bad people. They will not have a good life. God takes care of the people who obey him. When they are in trouble, he helps them. He is like a strong fort where they can hide" (Psalm 37:37-39).
